My name is Queen and I am an external processor.

 The external processor is a person who tends to develop their ideas while talking about them. They are actively thinking, and they turn their thought processes into sentences at the same time.

I’ve decided to start the blog this way because it’s important for those reading to understand that I am not an expert nor do I have all, if any, answers. These are just my thoughts…processed out loud. So be prepared for randomness and grammatical errors. 

I didn’t grow up in a white evangelical church. Actually I didn’t truly engage with white Christians until I joined an organization full of white Christian women in 2018. So when I first started my official deconstructing journey, I would find that it was easy to pretend like my faith wasn’t rooted in white supremacy. I mean I was taught by black pastors all my life. But the reality is if you were taught Christianity in the West then you were taught from the lens of white supremacy and patriarchy. 

I know that’s hard to hear because it’s hard to say. There will be plenty of statements, theories, and ideologies throughout this blog that might make you uncomfortable. And it can be easy to either ignore them or become defensive, but I challenge you to sit with your emotions first. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. 

• Does this theology that I am holding on to oppress a group of people? 
• Where did I learn this? 
• Why does this statement make me feel uncomfortable? 

At the end of each blog, you will find a list of resources related to that topic. In addition, I have compiled a list of Deconstructing Faith Resources full of podcasts, books, and IG pages that you can use to maybe help answer some questions, challenge what you currently believe, and give you language for new knowledge. Of course it’s not an extensive list but I will do my best to keep it updated as I come across new resources.

So what shall we call this blog?

God gave me the word “Regeneration” when I was transitioning my teen talk show, Fusion Talk Show, from Atlanta to Houston. While I did manage to write 2 episodes, I pivoted away from creating the show when I realized that my life as a filmmaker was over. But the word “Regeneration” stayed in my heart. Regeneration is defined as the process of spiritual renewal or revival. Seems like the perfect word to describe a journey of deconstructing your faith huh? 

So I present to you..Regeneration Faith Blog.
