Deconstructing Faith Resources

Updated: 1/10/2022

I officially started my deconstructing my faith journey in 2019. I would say it started much sooner but I didn’t have the language. Well thanks to the resources below, I am on the journey with the language, more questions, some answers, and many journal entries challenging my thoughts.

Podcasts

  • Reclaiming My Theology: Reclaiming My Theology is a podcast and community taking our theology back from ideas and systems that oppress. Each season of the podcast will be a deep dive into a form of systemic oppression and ask how the values of oppressive ideas shape our hearts, minds, politics, and lived experiences.
  • Holy Smokes: Cigars and Spirituality: Join us as we deconstruct harmful theology and create beloved community while smoking cigars. Holy Smokes is disrupting everything you thought you knew about church.
  • A People’s Theology: Exploring theologies that inspire and liberate. Formally known as Religionless Church.
  • Be the Bridge Podcast with Latasha Morrison: Latasha Morrison is a best-selling and award winning author, bridge-builder, reconciler, and a compelling voice in the fight for racial justice. In 2016, she founded Be the Bridge, a non-profit organization equipping more than 1,000 sub-groups across five countries to serve as ambassadors of racial reconciliation. This podcast is another step is cultivating conversations that will hopefully lead to real change.

Communities

  • CityPoint Community Church: The dopest + wokest church on the planet via #Chicago, led by @demetriusldavis‘s culturally relevant preaching & teaching.
  • The Faith Community: A disruptive ministry with 5 keys: Greatest Commandment Theology, Anti-Racism, Women’s Equity, Q+ Affirmation, and Bible Criticism.
  • BTB BIPOC Care Group: This is a care group specifically for people of color who are actively and regularly engaging in the “Be the Bridge to Racial Unity” group. This page is meant to be a safe space where we can share freely and openly about frustrations and challenges that naturally arise in the process of dialoguing about these issues with people still in the early stages of learning. The emphasis will be on helping one another navigate difficult conversations (strategy) and encouraging one another in self-care. And laughter. There will be much laughter.
  • The Double Click: The Double Click is a learning community by Faith & Prejudice that exists to give people a safe space to learn and grow together so that we can mobilize toward dismantling racism in our nation. If change is going to take place, change takes action. Action requires compassion, and compassion requires information.

“As a Christian, I’m realizing that one of the most courageous decisions any of us can make in our faith is unlearning the toxic ways we have learned to be human, Christian, abd neighbors. Holding onto bad theology is not spiritual. It is actually selfish. (Dante Stewart)
